The Problem With NMN!

The Problem With NMN!

Yes, we sure do love NMN as it has many great benefits, however, like many things that are great for us, there can also be a downside.

But why should you take NMN daily?

Our NMN supplements contain NMN or Nicotinamide Mononucleotide.

NMN is a precursor to another molecule called NAD+ or Nicotinamide Adeninine Dinucleotide, a master regulator of metabolism and a molecule essential for the functionality of all human cells.

Human clinical trials have shown the best way to top up NAD+ levels is by supplementing with NAD+ boosters like NMN. NMN is a vitamin B3 derivative and a direct precursor to NAD+, meaning it converts into NAD+ in one quick step. NAD+ itself is just too large a molecule to be easily absorbed by our cells.

NMN is rapidly metabolised and so is shown to boost NAD+ in human muscle and liver tissues.

A human clinical study has shown that 12 weeks of supplementation with NMN, "enhances sleep quality and lower limb function to potentially benefit physical and mental health".

Furthermore, another study concluded that alongside exercise, NMN supplementation increases the endurance performance of middle-aged athletes by improving aerobic capacity.

In addition to the benefits outlined above, NMN has been found to increase insulin sensitivity, aid inflammation, improve cardiovascular health and increase collagen production.

Our customers have provided feedback about their experiences thus far with NMN supplementation which include having high levels of energy, improved sleep, less aches and pains, and increased stamina and endurance. So what exactly is the problem? The problem is…although NMN has an array of benefits, there is a problem that is rarely discussed. One word - Methylation! What is methylation?

Methylation is a natural bodily process in which three hydrogen atoms and one carbon atom (CH3) are transferred from one molecule to another. This process is vital for many of our body’s most important functions, such as cell division (Mitosis), energy production, metabolism, DNA expression (epigenetics) and fighting free radicals.

As you can see methylation is extremely important, but our bodies don’t have an unlimited fuel source for methylation.

When we have enough ‘fuel’, methylation runs smoothly but when the CH3 fuel runs low it can lead to serious health problems. The truth is, if you want to optimise your NMN efficacy it is best to add a form of methylation into your supplement range.

Great news- you can add TMG alongside NMN for optimal efficiency. Trimethylglycine (TMG) also called Betaine is a naturally occurring substance in the body.

It's involved in liver function, cellular reproduction, and it helps make essential metabolic compounds. It is an amino acid with three methyl groups attached to each molecule of glycine.

As a methyl donor, it can replenish our ‘methyl pool’ and therefore support healthy methylation. As we age our ‘methyl pool’ can deplete which makes TMG a very useful supplement for replenishing our bodies’ methyl groups.

This is problem number 1, and now on to problem number 2.

Before purchasing supplements, we all tend to do thorough research. However, on the odd occasion, we come across suppliers that are unreliable as they fail to 3rd party test their products, unlike NMN Bio. Consuming NMN alone is fine to do so, however, please ensure it is from a reliable supplier. High-quality NMN and TMG consumed together offer one of the best ways to activate and maintain the healthy function of our antiaging processes. Will you continue to take NMN alone, or will you add TMG to optimise the benefits?
